There have been some changes that could be seen on the 2018 model. Camouflaged prototype model was spotted testing in cold conditions and photos hint some possible changes. It is hard to be explicit but we expect design modifications which will bring this model inline with smaller models from this brand. Interior should also receive some new details. It is also possible that Kia is working on some powertrain revisions.
2018 KIA SORENTO: EXTERIOR
So, we are definitely suppressed that just a two years after the redesign Kia is testing facelifted 2018 Kia Sorento. According to what we can see from the camouflaged prototype the changes will mimic cues that are present on the smaller Kia models.
The front end design will sport cues from the smaller Niro and Sportage models. The grille looks slightly different and it features different honey-comb mesh pattern. Kia’s badge also seems to be repositioned above the grille.
Slightly reshaped headlights and hood should also bring new effect. Heavily padded fenders and door panels also suggest some changes.
As per the first impression the new Sorrento might also be slightly longer but we will see.
Inside the model might become more luxurious. Already soft and rich textures might get slightly changed form. Some design cues from the latest Mohave model which include more wood accents on the dash and door panels might be seen in the new Sorento.
On the other hand the model will likely to continue with the same form of the center stack. There will also be comfortable front and middle rows. The third row will offer room for small adults.
ENGINE OPTIONS OF 2018 KIA SORENTO
In the engine department we expect similar lineup. The entry version of the 2018 Kia Sorento should get a 2.4 liter four cylinder engine. In the current form it produces 185 hp and torque of 178 pound-feet.
Turbocharged option should be a 2.0 liter four cylinder. It now delivers 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. More power will be available from the 3.3 liter V-6 engine. Its current capability is 290 hp and torque of 252 lb-ft.
Six-speed automatic and two-wheel drive is now standard on all Sorento models. It is possible that Kia would introduce a new transmission but we will see. All-wheel drive will be available as an option.
